Install and offline

Glowtrope runs in a browser tab, but it can also be installed like an app.

Installing

• Chrome or Edge (Windows, macOS, Linux, ChromeOS): click the install icon in the address bar, or the browser menu → Install Glowtrope.
• Safari on macOS: File → Add to Dock.
• iPhone and iPad: Share → Add to Home Screen.
• Android: browser menu → Install app or Add to Home screen.

The installed app opens in its own window, fullscreen where the system allows. On a phone or tablet, swipe and double-tap the visuals to play the show: see Touch gestures.

Offline

After your first visit, the app works without an internet connection, installed or not. Everything it needs is kept by the browser. The MilkDrop preset pack, once downloaded, is kept for offline use too.

Updates arrive automatically the next time you open it online.

Where your things are kept

Presets, favorites, custom palettes, uploaded shaders, settings and MIDI mappings are stored in this browser, on this device. Clearing the browser's site data removes them, so export your library and your profile now and then as a backup, or to move to another computer.
