Blend modes
| Mode | What it does |
|---|---|
| Normal | The layer covers what’s below (opacity blends it). |
| Add | Adds light: brightens, glows; black adds nothing. Great for lasers and particles. |
| Screen | Like add, but softer: never blows out to white as quickly. |
| Multiply | Darkens: white leaves the picture unchanged, black blacks it out. Used by the Crowd silhouette. |
| Overlay | Boosts contrast: lightens the light parts and darkens the dark ones. |
| Difference | Subtracts colours: psychedelic inversions where layers overlap. |
| Lighten | Keeps whichever is brighter, pixel by pixel. |
| Darken | Keeps whichever is darker, pixel by pixel. |
| Over (black = clear) | Black counts as transparent: shapes drawn on black keep their own colours on top of the layer below. |
